We Pay our Respects
The Board of Directors and staff of The Long Walk, with sadness and a heavy heart, would like to pay our respects on the passing of Uncle Brian Lovett early Sunday morning.
Uncle Brian was a much loved and respected Elder, friend, family and an Original Walker. Uncle Brian and his brother, Uncle Greg Lovett, joined Michael Long 11 years ago on the epic walk to Canberra to meet then PM John Howard, to put the lives of Indigenous people back on the National agenda.
Uncle Brian is a well respected Elder and community person, with involvement and support from him on many levels. This includes sporting carnivals, The Long Walk, Fitzroy Stars, NAIDOC, family events and so much more.
We send our condolences to his wife Auntie Joanie and all of Uncle Brian's children, grandchildren, family and friends.
You will be sadly missed Uncle Brian.
